The Wall Street Journal has been a prolific news source in New York and for businesses since July 8th, 1889 when the first paper was published. It was created by reporters Charles Dow, Edward Jones, and Charles Bergstresser. Delivery started in 1896 as the "Dow Jones Industrial Average." The Journal was first started to report Business and Financial news, today it covers a wide variety of topics like politics and technology. They started to expand on their topics after World War II when people started to gain more interest in other things. The Journal reports on the stock market's actions from the day prior, as well as many opinion pieces. From the beginnings of the journal, it has been a highly respected news source. In 2007 Rupert Murdoch's news corporation obtained the journal. Today, the Journal has expanded to Asian and Europe, as well as the U.S. It has also partnered with other publications such as: Barron's, Far Eastern Economic Review, and Smart Money. The journal has been very successful in it's tenure, receiving 35 Pulitzer awards.
